02 · Think in connected stages

03 · Product behaviour

The difficult part is rarely the nominal fill volume.

Two products sold in the same jar can need entirely different pumps, valves, nozzles and cleaning routines. Define the full expected range—not the easiest batch.

Viscosity & temperature

Measure the thinnest and thickest conditions at the nozzle, not only in the kettle.

Pieces, seeds & fibres

Size the complete product path around the largest firm inclusion and the risk of bridging.

Distribution & suspension

Agitation and gentle recirculation may be needed to maintain a repeatable solids ratio.

Cut-off & presentation

Drip, stringing, tailing and splashing affect seal cleanliness and retail appearance.

Hot fill or cold fill changes the whole operating route.

Temperature affects product flow, microbiological control, pack compatibility, closure performance, operator safety and the time available before labelling or packing.

Control heat from vessel to closure.

Define the validated temperature and time window, then minimise uncontrolled heat loss through hoses, valves and waiting time.
